"There are also signs of life at Tulane, where second-year coach Curtis Johnson has the Green Wave (4-2, 2-0 C-USA) off to their best start since an undefeated 1998 season. Stewart Mandel"

"Tulane (4-2, 2-0): A program that hasn't reached the postseason since 2002 is just two wins away from bowl eligibility. For that matter, Tulane hasn't won five games since 2004. Starting the conference schedule with wins against Louisiana Tech and North Texas makes them a frontrunner in Conference USA West, but the Green Wave is going to need more consistent play from quarterback Nick Montana. The transfer from Washington (and yes, Joe Montana's son) has thrown 10 touchdowns to four interceptions, but at 55.7%, hasn't been particularly accurate. Receiver Ryan Grant is 12th in the country with 40 receptions, and nobody else on the team has more than 17. Saturday's game against East Carolina is a tough one, but four more wins isn't a stretch."

We are #1!!!!!

But look who is #6

1. Tulane - Check the Conference USA standings this morning and sitting atop the West Division are Curtis Johnson and the Tulane Green Wave. Johnson's team has already matched its win total from the 2011 and 2012 seasons combined at 4-2, and they're only three points away from being 5-1. The 4-2 mark and 2-0 begin to conference play is Tulane's best start since its undefeated season in 1998.
